BACOOR, Cavite—Mayoral candidate Minerva Castillo officially filed a petition for a declaration of failure of elections in Bacoor at the Commission on Elections, citing among other reasons the alleged buying of votes by candidates in the province for P500 per vote.
In her five-page petition dated May 18, 2007, Castillo accused Strike Revilla of employing “massive fraud and terrorism” to ensure his victory. (More on Inquirer)

MANILA, Philippines—Amid slow count in other areas, the Commission on Elections proclaimed more winners in Southern Luzon.
In Laguna, newly elected representatives Justin Mark Chipeco (2nd district), Ma. Evita Arago (3rd district), and Edgar San Luis (4th district) have been proclaimed by the Comelec. (More on Inquirer)

An explosion occurred near a school here, where ballot boxes from a neighboring town were earlier brought for safeguarding, but no one was injured, police said Sunday, confirming earlier reports.
Senior Superintendent Joel Goltiao, police chief of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the explosion near the Parang Elementary School near midnight Friday could have been caused by a rocket grenade. (More on Inquirer)

Reelected Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay is to lead a parade in the city’s high-end financial district in celebration of the city’s founding anniversary.
The stretch of Ayala Avenue from the corner of Makati Avenue to Gil Puyat Avenue (formerly Buendia), will be closed starting 2 p.m. on Monday for the annual Makati Grand Parade, authorities said. (More on Inquirer)
